1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login state, language, or display settings) over a period of time, so you don't have to re-enter them every time you visit. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags — collectively referred to as "cookies" in this policy.
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- Make our website work (essential functionality)
- Understand how visitors use our site (analytics, when active and consented to)
- Remember your preferences across visits
- Measure the effectiveness of any future advertising
3. Types of cookies we use
Cookies are categorised by their purpose.
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They cannot be disabled in our system. They include cookies that maintain your session as you navigate between pages, protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF), and detect and mitigate bot traffic.
| Cookie | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
session-id | Maintains your browsing session and serves first-party platform analytics on aggregate site performance | Lovable (our hosting platform) | ~30 minutes (rolling) |
__cf_bm | Bot management and abuse prevention | Cloudflare | 30 minutes |
__dpl | Performance routing across the Cloudflare edge network | Cloudflare | Session |
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under PECR Regulation 6.
Lovable platform analytics — full transparency. Our website is built on Lovable, which sends a first-party analytics ping on every page load to track aggregate site performance (e.g. page-load times, error rates). This uses the session-id cookie listed above and a single anonymised pageview event per page load. The data is anonymous (no name, email, full IP, or device fingerprint is stored), and Lovable acts as a data processor on our behalf. PECR Regulation 6 technically applies because the cookie is persisted; we have therefore disclosed it transparently in this policy. If you wish to object to this processing, please contact hello@safaresidences.com.
3.2 Performance and analytics cookies (consent required)
When activated, these cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our site so we can improve it. We do not currently run third-party analytics on this website. When we add Google Analytics 4 (GA4) in future, the following cookies will be used only with your consent:
| Cookie | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Distinguish unique visitors | Google Analytics 4 (when activated) | 13 months |
_gid | Distinguish unique visitors (short-term) | Google Analytics 4 (when activated) | 24 hours |
3.3 Functionality cookies (consent required)
These remember choices you make to enhance your experience.
| Cookie | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cookie-consent | Remembers your cookie preferences | Safa Residences | 12 months |
3.4 Marketing cookies (consent required)
When activated, these track your interaction with our marketing campaigns. We do not currently run third-party advertising. When we add Meta Pixel (for Facebook / Instagram advertising) in future, the following cookies will be used only with your consent:
| Cookie | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | Track conversions for Meta advertising | Meta (when activated) | 90 days |
4. Your choices
When you first visit our website, our cookie banner asks for your consent to non-essential cookies. You can:
- Accept all — allow all categories
- Reject all — block all non-essential cookies (only strictly necessary cookies remain)
- Manage preferences — choose category-by-category
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the website footer.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can:
- Block all cookies
- Block third-party cookies
- Delete existing cookies
- Receive notifications when a cookie is set
Browser-specific instructions:
Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of our website.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry consensus on how DNT should be handled, and we do not currently respond to DNT signals. We rely on our cookie banner for explicit consent, which provides equivalent protection.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will trigger a re-prompt of the cookie consent banner.
